Current revision

The Les Paul controller was packaged with the Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3 versions of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. It features a detachable neck and the rounded off buttons found in previous Guitar Hero controllers. The controller came with many stickers, including Guns N' Roses stickers. The Wii version of the Les Paul controller, seen here adorned in the stickers included with the game.

Differences Between Consoles

The Wii Les Paul controller (pictured right) features an opening in the back of the controller, in which the Wii remote is placed. The Xbox 360 controller features an Xbox guide button and the color of the guitar can either be white or black.

Criticism

The Les Paul controller has been criticized for several reasons, one being that the detachable neck provides for a weak connection between the frets and the main guitar, occasionally resulting in dropped notes. The buttons tend to stick and become unresponsive after many hours of play. Also, the whammy bar of the guitar is just as breakable as the other guitars in the series. Finally, many players have claimed that they experienced problems with the guitar's tilt senseor. Some claim that Star Power engages randomly, while others say that, for them, star power almost never activates, no matter how hard they try.
