Joe Perry is the main character for Guitar Hero Aerosmith, being the guitarist. Joe is in the band Aerosmith and is alongside his band or DMC.

The player plays as Joe Perry in all Aerosmith songs in both Career and Quickplay modes. However, he isn't able to be chosen in multiplayer and Career (as the opening act) from the start, and must be unlocked.

To unlock him, the player must beat Joe Perry in a Guitar Battle around the end of Career. Once done, both Joe Perry and the Guitar Battle as a song can be bought in The Vault (the in-game shop).

Biography

Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton were friends long before Aerosmith, and formed a band called The Jam Band. After the failure of The Jam Band, the two moved to Boston and formed Aerosmith. In the heyday of Aerosmith, Joe Perry was known for his avid drug use. This, along with strained relations within the band caused their creative process to become strained. However, they did manage to come out with a new hit record, Draw the Line.

After a fight backstage, Joe Perry quit the band to start a new band, The Joe Perry Project, which had moderate success. In 1983, the band rejoined after the failure of The Project's latest album.

In 2005, Perry released his first solo album, simply entitled: Joe Perry. It was generally favored by critics and fans alike.
